Kyle parkinson

Kyle Parkinson is an Audio Engineer originally from Battleford, SK. He received a BFA from the University of Regina for Film and Video Production in 2015. Kyle has been working in the Regina area for the past 8 years working on short films, television series and feature films. Throughout the years of working on different types of projects Kyle has become proficient at all things location audio to get the best sound possible in any situation. With a friendly attitude and good work ethic he brings a good balance of professionalism and positivity to every project he is involved with.

Kyle has been fascinated with all things audio since high school, where he was the audio technician for the NBCHS drama club. Having to design the audio for high school stage productions he would regularly find or create sound effects and music to fit the play, winning several technical awards.

You can hear Kyle’s location audio on projects such as; “Humboldt: The New Season” (2019), “Mercy” (2020) and “Guardians of the North” Seasons 1 and 2 (2022-2023). As well as his post audio work in projects like “Fable Deaf” (2023), “Fear & Trembling” (2023) and “Out Standing in His Field” (2022)

 

Laura Psotka

From right here at home in Regina, Laura Psotka is the newest addition to the Roman Empire team. She recently received her BFA in Film and Video production from the University of Regina. Laura was pulled into the world of audio after diving headfirst into a university course all about film soundtracks. She loves being in the sound booth doing foley work and even a little voice acting. In the past two years, Laura has been learning the ins and outs of sets and post-production skills. She is eager to know more and can often be found with her nose in university textbooks. And to top it all off, she speaks French!

David Roman

In 2013, David Roman established Roman Empire Studios, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey in the realms of music and film. While he has since shifted his focus towards a fulfilling career in social work, his enduring influence on the music and film industries remains undeniable. Through his vision and dedication, Roman Empire Studios continues to be a beacon of creativity, providing a nurturing environment for individuals striving to enhance their audio skills. Crafting memorable experiences for audiences worldwide, David not only shaped the artistic landscape but also supported aspiring enthusiasts in their creative pursuits. If you are in need of music creation David is still enthusiastic about helping out when he can.

David Roman is an Audio Engineer and Composer originally from Weyburn, SK.  With over a decade of experience Composing, Recording, Mixing, and Sound Designing, David has worked on several award winning films and his audio work has screened at many international festivals.  He has also worked on several commercials and television episodes both for social media and broadcast. Musically David is a multi-instrumentalist and producer with over twenty years of experience in several genres.  He is also highly proficient with Digital Audio Workstations and numerous digital composition tools. This is coupled with a background as a University graduated Social Worker which gives David a unique creative perspective that focuses on empathy and the psychology of artists and characters.  It’s no surprise then, that David tends to gravitate towards projects with a social conscience.  

His audio and music work can be heard in films such as; “Gas Can” (2017),  “ahkameyimo nitanis / Keep Going My Daughter” (2019), “Talent” (2017), “Orthodoxed” (2021), and “The Cage” (2022).  David has also worked with local and national ad agencies to complete work for clients such as Sasktel, Sask Power, Sask Energy, Access Communications, SGI, GMC, Michelin, First Nations University, Farm Credit Canada and the City of Regina.
